Nestlé’s association with India began in 1912 when it first traded as The Nestlé Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company (Export) Limited, introducing its finished products to the Indian market. Following India’s independence in 1947, Nestlé adapted to the country’s economic policies, which prioritized local production. In response, Nestlé established its first Indian factory in Moga, Punjab, in 1961, focusing on developing the local milk economy.
